New Caltrans Signs Public Meeting

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to install lighted overhead billboards in and around the Kirkwood and Carson Pass areas and on State Routes 4, 88, and 89 in Amador, Alpine and El Dorado Counties.

Caltrans will hold a Virtual Public Meeting online from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2022, regarding the proposed Carson Transportation Management Systems project. For more project information, and to attend the virtual meeting and submit public comments, visit the Caltrans District 10 website at: https://dot.ca.gov/caltrans-near-me/district-10/district-10-current-projects/10-1g020. The  link to meeting will be posted on this project page prior to meeting.

The billboard in Hope Valley will be the only ambient light in the entire valley and the Kirkwood billboard will be at the end of the meadow.  Route 88 is a California designated scenic highway.

Please send comments to Scott Guidi (info below) by 4/21. It’s will have the most impact if they are specific and reasoned. The draft Initial Study with maps and details and the finding that they will have no signifcant impact is available at the link above.
